New technology will allow PennDOT to figure out the best way to use plow trucks this winter.
Governor Tom Wolf and the secretary of PennDOT unveiled the Automated Vehicle Location System in Harrisburg earlier today for the more than 700 trucks in the state’s plowing fleet.
This pilot program could allow PennDOT to save money as real time information about vehicle movement, plow-route coverage, and usage of materials is relayed to a central location.
The system’s data will be available to the public online at 511PA.com.
