The weather seems to have broken enough for road construction season to begin and there will be a lot of it in Butler County this year.
PennDOT has several projects planned including:
-The Balls Bend realignment project in Middlesex Township will add a travel lane in each direction and a center turn lane as well as a new signalized intersection at Route 228 and Parks Road.
-The Three Degree Road Intersection in Adams and Middlesex Townships will include safety improvements, the addition of service roads, two roundabouts, sidewalks, and drainage upgrades.
-The Portersville Bridge replacement project over Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township is a new two-span composite steel multi-girder bridge estimated to be completed next summer.
-Widening of Freedom Road in Cranberry Township from Haine School Road to Commonwealth Drive will see new signals, bike lanes, sidewalks, and turn lanes with a completion timeline later this summer.
All of this road work means drivers need to turn on headlights and not exceed the posted speed limit while traveling in work zones.
