PennDOT is upgrading the lighting at railroad crossings to LED.
The Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad began a project last week to upgrade the existing railroad warning devices to LED lighting at eight railroad crossings throughout Butler County (in Butler, Penn, Center, Clay, Slippery Rock and Mercer townships).
The crossings are located on Henricks, Branchton, Boyers, Winters, Glenwood, Hall and Harmony roads.
Work will be performed from the shoulder of the road so should not affect traffic. The project should wrap up by the end of the year.
