There is still time to apply for two rail freight grant programs through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The Bureau of Rail, Freight, Ports, and Waterways has opened the application period for this year’s Rail Transportation Assistance Program and the Rail Freight Assistance Program.
Last year PennDOT distributed $33 million for 25 projects using funding from bonds as well as Act 89 of 2013. Pennsylvania has the most operating railroads of any state in the country with 65.
Eligible organizations seeking funding should visit the Bureau’s website before 4 p.m. Friday.
