A local organization has received a state grant to help with upgrades at a farm in Penn Township.
The Butler County Conservation District will be awarded a grant from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority in the amount of just over $1.1 million.
The money will be used to upgrade the Four Seasons Dairy Farm’s nutrient management operations and stormwater controls including building two new roofed manure composting facilities with stabilized feeding areas, a round manure tank, and a concrete unloading pad.
Other funding will go towards installing roof runoff controls, underground outlet pipes, fencing, and gates as well as decommissioning the existing manure tank.
This project is expected to reduce a large amount of sediment that impacts an unnamed tributary to Glade Run.
