Boise State has moved ahead of BYU in the third release of the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday. The top five remain unchanged, led by #1-Oregon. Penn State remains #4. BYU lost for the first time this season last Saturday, dropping a 17-13 decision to Kansas. They dropped out of the top 12 to #14 and that takes the Big 12 out of a first-round “bye” for the playoffs.
Currently, Oregon, Texas, Miami and Boise State would receive “byes” with the latest rankings.
The position the Nittany Lions are currently in would give them a first-round home game.
