The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4 in overtime last night. Phil Kessel scored the game-winning goal, just over a minute into the overtime period. The Pens had 43 shots on goal last night, as they swept the four-game season series from Columbus.
The victory boosted the Penguins point total to 98 this season with one game remaining. They can clinch home ice advantage in the first round of the NHL playoffs with a point against Ottawa tonight. Face-off tonight at PPG Paints Arena is 7:30pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 7pm.
Despite the loss, Columbus clinched a playoff spot last night. New Jersey also clinched. The final Eastern Conference playoff spot will come down to Philadelphia or Florida.
The Nashville Predators defeated Washington 4-3 last night and clinched the Western Conference top seed and also the President’s Trophy for the highest overall point total in the NHL.
