The Pittsburgh Penguins have the weekend off after finishing their 2015 preseason on Friday night.
The team will start off their 2015-2016 regular season with two road games against the Dallas Stars (Thursday 10/8) and the Arizona Coyotes (Saturday 10/10). The Pens will play their first home game of the season next Tuesday (10/13) against Montreal.
In other Penguins news, former defenseman Sergei Gonchar was released by the team on Saturday following their final preseason game. The former Penguin, who is now 41 years old, was offered a tryout contract late in the off-season and played in four of the team’s eight preseason games.
The Penguins’ Front Office says that they are open to having Gonchar serve in another capacity within the organization.
