The Penguins relied on their star to take down the Carolina Hurricanes last night 4-2 at the Consol Energy Center.
Sidney Crosby registered two goals in the Pens victory Thursday evening. Crosby cut an early two goal deficit in half with a goal in the first period.
Then, with things tied up 2-2 in the second period, Crosby put his second goal of the evening into the net, helping the Pens propel to just one point behind the New York Islanders in the Metropolitan Division.
Phil Kessel and Nick Bonino rounded out the scoring for the Pengs.
The win also gives them a little bit of a buffer from the Flyers and Red Wings. The Pens are now three points in front of Detroit and four up on Philadelphia.
The Penguins have two big games back-to-back this weekend. Saturday the Pens head to Philadelphia for a 1:00 p.m. face-off. Then on Sunday, the Pens host the Eastern Conference leader Washington Capitals at 6:00 p.m. Both games can be heard on WISR 680 AM.
