The Pittsburgh Penguins scored three third period goals to defeat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Evgeni Malkin, Scott Wilson and Patrick Hornqvist scored the Penguins goals and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 32 shots. The Pens improved to 3-1-1 overall.
The Penguins played the game without center Sidney Crosby and defenseman Kris Letang, then lost defensemen Olli Maata and Derrick Pouliot in the second period last night. They played the rest of the victory with four defenseman on the ice. The Pens visit Nashville tomorrow night at 8pm.
Goaltender Matt Murray signed a three-year contract extension with the Penguins Thursday. The deal will begin next season, and is worth just under $4 million per season.
