The Pittsburgh Penguins scored four first period goals and cruised to a victory 7-0 over Ottawa in game five of their Stanley Cup Playoff Series at PPG Paints Arena. Game six is Tuesday in Ottawa. The Pens now lead the series 3-2.
Conor Sheary was a healthy scratch for Sunday’s game. Bryan Rust returned from an injury and scored a goal. He also assisted on Olli Maata’s game-opening goal in the first period. The Penguins were 3-for-3 on the power play with goals by Sidney Crosby, Phil Kessel and Trevor Dailey. The Senators were 0-for-4 on the power play and are 0-for-15 in the series. Matt Murray stopped 25 shots for his second career playoff shut-out.
In the Western Conference final tonight: Nashville can move on to their first Stanley Cup final with a win over Anaheim. The Predators lead the series 3-2.
