Numerous sources reported Tuesday that the Penguins ownership are working through a deal to sell a majority stake of the franchise to Fenway Sports Group, who also own the Boston Red Sox, the Liverpool soccer franchise of the English Premier League and Roush Fenway Racing in Nascar. Fenway Sports Group would purchase Ron Burkle’s controlling portion of the ownership, with Mario Lemieux remaining a part owner.
Roush Fenway Racing will rebrand their Nascar team name to RBK Racing with the addition of driver and part owner Brad Keselowski. Keselowski will be taking over the #6 car in the organization after leaving Penske Racing.
