The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to a new two-year contract with restricted free agent Teddy Blueger, with an annual value of $750,000. Blueger likely will take over the fourth line center position left open by Matt Cullen’s retirement. Blueger played 28 games last season with the Pens and had six goals.
Former Penguin Ron Francis has been named the first general manager of the new Seattle franchise. The Hall of Fame player was the general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes for four seasons. The expansion franchise in Seattle will begin play as the NHL’s 32nd team in 2021-22.
