The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 last night to win their Eastern Conference championship series 4-3 and head to the Stanley Cup final. Bryan Rust scored both Penguins goals and the Penguins allowed just 17 Tampa Bay shots. Goaltender Matt Murray stopped 16 shots to lead the Pens to the Prince of Wales trophy. The Penguins will now face the San Jose Sharks in the best-of-seven league championship series beginning Monday at the Consol Energy Center. It will be the Pens fifth trip to the Stanley Cup final. It is the first for the Sharks.
Rust now has five goals in the playoffs, tying a Penguins record set by Michel Briere in the 1970 Stanley Cup playoffs.
