The Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the New York Islanders 2-1 last night in Brooklyn. Kris Letang scored the Penguins only goal in the first period. The Pens were 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Islanders scored both of their goals on the power play. The loss drops the Pens five points behind the third-place Islanders in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. The Pens remain three points up on Philadelphia for a Wild Card playoff spot.
The Pens visit Columbus Friday night, then visit the New York Rangers Sunday afternoon. Left winger Carl Hagelin did not play for the second consecutive game last night. Forwards Eric Fehr and Beau Bennett both participated in the game-day skate Tuesday, both could return Friday from injuries.
