New Year’s Eve partying began a little early for the Penguins as they scored the most goals in the Mike Sullivan era en route to a 5-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
After trailing 2-0 after the 1st period, the Penguins responded with five unanswered goals. Kris Letang led the Pens with two goal—one being an empty netter at the end of the game. Sidney Crosby, Patric Honrqvist, and Evgeni Malkin all registered goals during the evening as well.
Goalie Jeff Zatkoff, who’s a native of Detroit, stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced.
The Pens are back in action Saturday as they host the New York Islanders. Faceoff is at 7:00 p.m. and you can hear the game on WISR 680 AM.
