The Pittsburgh Penguins were crushed by the Chicago Blackhawks 10-1 last night in the first road-game of the season. The Blackhawks scored four goals over a three-minute span of the first period, and went on to score five in that opening period. Goaltender Matt Murray allowed six goals after replacing Antii Niemim, who was making his first start as a Penguin, and allowed four goals before being pulled. Six different Chicago players scored goals. Phil Kessel scored the lone Penguins goal on a second period power play.
The Penguins are back home Saturday to host the Nashville Predators in a match-up of last season’s Stanley Cup Final. Face-off at PPG Paints Arena will be 7pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:30pm.
