The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced the players that they will protect from the upcoming NHL Expansion Draft.
Making the protected list for the team include: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel, Patric Hornqvist, Kris Letang, Justin Shultz, Olli Maatta, Brian Dumolin, and Matt Murray.
Headlining the unprotected players included longtime Penguins’ goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.
Teams were given the opportunity to either protect:
- Seven forwards, three defensemen, and one goalie, or
- Eight skaters (could be either forwards or defesemen), and one goalie
The draft is scheduled for this Wednesday, June 21st.
