A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Monday evening in Butler Township.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 7 p.m. for a person on the ground along Pittsburgh Road (Route 8 South) near the Greater Butler Mart.
A medical helicopter was called to land at Butler Memorial Hospital and the person was transported to a Pittsburgh trauma center for additional treatment of unknown injuries.
Traffic was delayed in that area for about 45 minutes as crews had to shut down that portion of the highway to assist the injured pedestrian.
