The New England Patriots pounded the Pittsburgh Steelers 33-3 last night in the regular-season opener for both teams. The reigning Super Bowl champions built a 20-0 lead by halftime and the Steelers offense managed just a third quarter field goal. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns, while Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 276 yards and was intercepted one time.
Steelers running back James Conner carried the ball 10 times for 21 yards in the game. Each team had one sack.
The Steelers will host Seattle for their home opener Sunday at 1pm. The Seahawks were 21-20 winners over Cincinnati Sunday.

–Baltimore pounded Miami 59-10. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had five touchdown passes.
–Tennessee defeated Cleveland 43-13. The Browns were penalized 18 times in the game and quarterback Baker Mayfield was intercepted three times.
–Kansas City defeated Jacksonville 40-26. The Jaquars lost starting quarterback Nick Foles suffered a broken clavicle in the first quarter. He had signed a four-year $88 million contract back in April.
–Minnesota over Atlanta 28-12.
–Buffalo edged the New York Jets 17-16. Former Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell rushed 17 times for 60 yards in his Jets debut. He caught a touchdown pass.
–Philadelphia held off Washington 32-27.
–The Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Indianapolis Colts 30-24 in overtime.
–Arizona and Detroit tied at 27 in overtime. #1-draft pick Kyler Murray led his team to 17 fourth quarter points to force the overtime. Both teams kicked a field goal in the O.T. Murray went 29-of-54 for 308 yards in his NFL debut.
–Dallas beat the New York Giants 35-17.
–San Francisco over Tampa Bay 31-17 in Bruce Arrians debut with the Buccaneers.
There are two Monday Night Football games tonight:
–New Orleans will host Houston at 7:10pm.
–Oakland will host Denver at 10:20pm.
Oakland released former Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown over the weekend. Within hours after his release, Brown signed a one-year contract worth $15 million with the New England Patriots. He was not eligible to play in last night’s game.
