More funding is heading to the state system of higher education under the new budget approved over the weekend.
Overall, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education will receive $552.5 million this year—that’s up $75 million increase from last year’s budget.
“This historic investment will allow our universities to drive the economy by offering affordable, high quality education to all of Pennsylvania in areas we know businesses and employers are starving for educated workers,” Dan Greenstein, chancellor of PASSHE said.
The budget also will provide $125 million from the federal American Rescue Plan to help with the System Redesign, as PASSHE tries to map out a future with lower enrollment and higher costs.
