The State System of Higher Education is starting the process of reviewing the possible integration of some schools across Pennsylvania.
Chancellor Dan Greenstein said today that he will begin a financial review of the plan that would pair up three universities in the state—including Slippery Rock.
Under the plan, SRU would be paired with Edinboro University. According to Greenstein, the universities would “align two programs into one, driving down costs and coordinating enrollment strategies.”
The other integration plans included Clarion and California, as well as Lock Haven and Mansfield.
None of these universities would close under the proposal, but Greenstein hopes this would make them sustainable in the long-term future.
