A lot of people spend part of their New Year’s Day every year plunging into icy cold water and even the extremely cold weather didn’t stop them.
In Parker, the annual Polar Bear Plunge continued as planned. The event was sponsored by the Parker Polar Bear Club and was dubbed “Freezin For A Reason.” Proceeds will benefit local charities and organizations.
Plunges in other parts of the country had to be canceled because of the bitter cold. Organizers of Lake Michigan plunges in the Chicago area canceled their events.
Ninety percent of the nation started 2018 with temperatures below freezing.
