Local paramedics were called to assist with two separate drug overdoses in public places over the weekend in Butler Township.
The first incident happened late Friday morning at the Sheetz on Pittsburgh Road in Butler Township.
Police say a 28-year-old Valencia woman passed out at a gas pump after overdosing on heroin. A Sheetz employee is being credited with potentially saving the woman’s life. The employee performed CPR while awaiting medics, who then administered Narcan.
Narcan is a prescription drug that blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose.
Then on Saturday evening, medics were called to Walmart in Butler Township for a 24-year-old man from Chicora who was passed out on a Butler Transit Authority bus. Again, Narcan was used.
Both the female and male face various charges by Butler Township Police.
