The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the San Diego Padres 8-5 Sunday at PNC Park. Felipe Vazquez blew his first save of the season after the Bucs took a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning. San Diego took three of four games in the series.
Vazquez failed to record an out, allowing four runs – three earned. Starting pitcher Trevor Williams allowed four runs on four hits over the first six innings
The Pirates activated second baseman Josh Harrison from the disabled list. Max Moroff and Nick Kingham were sent back to the minor leagues. Harrison and Austin Meadows have three hits each. Meadows hit his first major league home run in the sixth inning.
The Pirates are off today, and visit Cincinnati for three games beginning Tuesday. The Bucs are 1-1/2 games behind first-place Milwaukee, and are tied with Chicago and St. Louis in the NL Central.
