Candidates applying for the Pennsylvania State Police will no longer be subjected to a polygraph test during their application process.
According to our news partners at WPXI, the State Police announced late last week that they will eliminate the polygraph testing in order to shorten the length of time it takes a potential candidate to complete the hiring process.
Officials say that they lost good applicants because of the delays due to the test. A typical polygraph test can take up to several hours to complete.
The union that represents the troopers has criticized the decision, as they feel the test helps find potential candidates who have the highest personal integrity.
No other changes to the hiring process have been announced.
