Pennsylvania State Police officers working in Troop D arrested 31 people for allegedly driving under the influence during the New Year’s holiday enforcement period.
Officers also investigated 28 crashes, four of which were alcohol related. Ten people were injured in the crashes, but no fatalities.
Aside from the DUI arrests, more than 800 other citations were given out- for speeding, child safety seat infractions, for not wearing a seatbelt, and other infractions.
The enforcement period ran for four days- Dec. 29 through Jan. 1.
Troop D is headquartered in Butler Township, Butler County but also includes the counties of Beaver, Lawrence, Mercer and Armstrong.
Statewide, state police arrested 406 people for DUI during the New Year’s holiday period. Troopers investigated 642 crashes, including 64 that involved alcohol. Four people were killed in four separate fatal crashes. Police say one of the fatal collisions involved alcohol.
