With a full month of both professional and college football now in the books, its turns out, sportsbooks across the state are the big winners.
A new report from Play Pennsylvania says $194.5 million were placed in bets during the month of September. Those bets yielded $19.3 million in revenue for the state—which generated just over $5 million in state taxes.
The total amount wagered in September is up 78 percent from last month—analysts attribute that increase to more people betting on football.
