Pennsylvania’s primary election is over and we, unofficially, know the match-ups in the race for governor, Pennsylvania’s 18 U.S. House seats and state legislative races for the November general election.

Statewide, Congressman Lou Barletta unofficially beat State Rep. Jim Christiana in Tuesday’s republican primary for U.S. Senate. Barletta will face incumbent U.S. Senator Bob Casey in November. Barletta won the state party endorsement and is a favorite of President Donald Trump. Casey is a strong critic of the president.

In the race for Pennsylvania’s Governor, Republicans Scott Wagner, Paul Mango and Laura Ellsworth are vying to face Gov. Tom Wolf in November. At 10 p.m., the Associated Press has declared Scott Wagner the winner of the Republican primary race in Pennsylvania for governor.

Butler County is now split into three different congressional districts. Much of eastern Butler County is in the 15th district, which stretches through several counties including Venango, Armstrong, Indiana, Clarion, Forest, Warren, Elk, Clearfield and Centre. Incumbent Republican Glenn Thompson will face the winner of the democratic race, between Susan Boser and Wade Jodun.
Must of western Butler County is under the 16th district, which includes Lawrence, Mercer, Crawford and Erie counties. U.S. Rep Mike Kelly will face a democratic challenger in the fall. In Butler County with nearly all of the precincts reporting, Chris Rieger of Cranberry dominated Robert Multari and Ron Dinicola with 70 percent of the vote. But, Butler County is only one piece of the five-county district. It appears Dinicola will take the race and face Kelly this November.

In Pennsylvania’s General Assembly, the only real contest in this year’s primary was in the 12th legislative district, which includes much of southern Butler County. Longtime incumbent Republican Daryl Metcalfe was running unopposed and will be seeking another term this November. Democrats Daniel Smith Jr. and Honora Rockar were vying for the democratic nominee. With 86 percent of the precincts reporting, Smith was leading with 64 percent of the vote.
