The Pennsylvania Farm Show will mark its 100th year when it opens this weekend in Harrisburg.
The show will run from Saturday (1/9) through Jan. 16 with nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits and a large food court.
The theme this year is “Our Commonwealth’s Blue Ribbon Experience.” In honor of the centennial year, the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association will reveal a new milkshake flavor.

Dozens of people gathered Thursday to witness the unveiling of a carefully sculpted half-ton of butter that precedes the opening of the Pennsylvania Farm Show.
The life-size butter sculpture depicts a dairy cow and farm family members showing off baby chicks and apple pies.
The state Agriculture Department estimates more than 500,000 people will attend this year’s show, which is held at the Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg. Admission is free but parking is $15.
