Pennsylvania residents considering nursing home care for loved ones now have a new resource.
Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale has released a five page ‘Citizen’s Guide For Informed Decision Making’ after performing an audit of the state Department of Health’s nursing home oversight.
The audit found inadequate review of staffing levels, complaint handling and sanctions against facilities that performed poorly. The guide covers topics like key terms related to nursing home oversight, issues about nursing home staffing, and where to find additional information.
