Pennsylvania’s Attorney General is alleging that the creators of a prescription painkiller are personally liable for the devastation of the opioid crisis, according to a lawsuit filed yesterday.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced the lawsuit Thursday morning against the Sackler family—who are the owners of Purdue Pharma, the company that created OxyContin.
The lawsuit comes a day after a tentative settlement was reached between Purdue and about half the states in the country.
