Pennsylvania’s top cop is targeting a business practice that is apparently common in the fast food industry.
They’re called “No Poach” agreements. Attorney General Josh Shapiro says many large businesses use them to restrict employee movement from one business location to another.
Shapiro says “No Poach” agreements hurt workers.
“These workers don’t have any upward mobility; they can’t earn more money. It’s unfair. It’s not competitive. And it, frankly, undermines wages and salaries,” he said.
Shapiro says just threatening action has prompted many fast food companies to drop their no-poach policies, but he says the state will press on against companies that resist.
