The second snowstorm of the week dumped several inches of snow in Butler County.
The snow fell Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning, in some spots dumping 5.5 inches.
Most Butler County public school districts decided to cancel classes for today. A-C Valley and South Butler districts were on a two-hour delay. A list of school and community delays is available here.
The snow caused some early morning accidents. Two tractor trailers jackknifed on the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Butler Valley and Cranberry exits about 5 a.m., initially blocking all eastbound lanes. Backups extended for miles. The turnpike reopened at 8 a.m.
There were four crashes on Interstate 79 southbound before 6:30 a.m., according to the Butler County 911 Center. No major injuries were reported in those I-79 crashes.
Crews also responded to a reported head-on crash on Mars-Evans City Road in Adams Township.
The National Weather Service is forecasting little to no additional snow accumulation expected today but it will remain cold with highs only in the low 20s.
