It’s expected to be a busy holiday travel period next week, with AAA saying more than 55 million Americans will be making a Thanksgiving trip.
Jim Garrity is Public and Legislative Affairs Manager with AAA East Central.
“A travel forecast is projecting the most people traveling for Thanksgiving since 2005,” Garrity said. “If you drove last Thanksgiving, expect this to be a little busier this year.”
AAA says just over 49 million people will be traveling by car, while nearly 4.5 million people will be flying this Thanksgiving. Most drivers in the Keystone State opt for the ground game though according to Garrity.
“PA specifically has about 1.7 million people travel, and a majority of them drive,” Garrity said. “So starting Monday and Tuesday you’ll see some traffic, but our AAA forecast says Wednesday will be the busiest day on the road.”
What’s the number one destination for Thanksgiving this year? Orlando, Florida.
