Plans to bring in a big name artist to perform an outdoor concert at Moraine State Park next summer have been scrapped.
In a statement released Tuesday, Executive Director of the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau Jack Cohen said conflicting guidelines with the state is the reason behind the cancellation.
“We are extremely disappointed with this news, and feel that this would have been a unique way to showcase Butler County’s biggest attraction,” Cohen said in a statement.
The tourism bureau had been working with the Moraine Preservation Fund to bring in a national recording artist, including Brad Paisley or Miranda Lambert, for an all-day music festival in August. According to Cohen, a committee was already in place and all the details for the concert had been arranged. The event was going to be run strictly by volunteers.
The event hoped to raise money for improvements and preservation at Moraine State Park, which continues to be affected by state budget cuts.
