The Pennsylvania Civil Service Commission hearing for the former director of Butler County’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority will continue Monday.
This will be the fourth day that the hearing for Perry O’Malley to challenge his dismissal from the post will continue in Pittsburgh. Our newsroom recently obtained a copy of the report by employment lawyer Neva Stanger who testified on behalf of the Authority during the hearing last month.
The report, dated March 5th, details Stanger’s recommendation that further investigation is needed into various activities that could be evidence of crimes. A request for comment from O’Malley’s attorney was not immediately returned Thursday.
O’Malley, of Cranberry Township, was fired back in March after the authority’s board members said he abused travel, expenses and leave time and neglected duties. O’Malley has continued to deny the board’s claims. He alleges he was fired because of his age and politics.
O’Malley had been the executive director for 23 years.
