A Cranberry Township program to dispose of worn flags is still going strong after five years.
Over 5,000 flags have been disposed of respectfully since 2011 through the Retire Your Old Glory program. Soiled, faded, or torn American flags are collected and disposed of appropriately by Scouts of Veterans groups.
Anyone who wants to retire an old flag is welcome to utilize this free program through collection bins throughout the Tri-state area.
The Cranberry bin is located in the lobby of the Township Municipal Building. American flags should only be displayed in good condition.
