Winter officially arrived last week and as another storm system moves through the area today, one of the state’s top safety officials is pleading with Pennsylvanians to heed the annual warnings about winter safety.
State Fire Commissioner Tim Solobay knows that despite the annual warnings, there will be carbon monoxide deaths this winter, probably from a misused generator or heating source.
“You should never have a generator running in your garage,” Solobay said.
Some other steps Solobaby recommends for winter is to stock up on a few days supply of food, water and medications as powerful winter storms can have the same impact as a hurricane- knocking out power for days at a time.
