A local police officer returns to active duty today after being critically injured in the line of duty last summer.
According to Butler City Police Chief Bob O’Neill, Officer Michael Sulerud has been cleared to rejoin his fellow officers in protecting the city.
Sulerud was stabbed multiple times during the course of a West Jefferson Street altercation at the end of August and required surgery.
The Marine Corps Veterans and three-year member of the City Police Department was treated at UPMC and released from the hospital at the beginning of September.
