A Butler City police officer was injured during an arrest as a result of a domestic situation earlier this week.
Sgt. Dave Villotti reportedly remains on light duty after an injury to his ribs.
Police say Sgt. Villotti, and his K-9 officer Blade, were dispatched to a domestic dispute on Monday evening at a home on Third Avenue. 25-year-old Thomas Romspert allegedly choked his girlfriend and was holding her inside the home against her will.
When officers arrived, Romspert did release his girlfriend but then barricaded himself in the attic and refused to come out.
K-9 Officer Blade was eventually ordered to bring Romspert to the floor. He did but police say the suspect continued to put up a fight. During the struggle, Sgt. Villotti injured himself while arresting Romspert.
