The National Weather Service is confirming that a tornado touched down in Armstrong County late last week.
It developed late Thursday morning as a group of storms started strengthening in Western Pennsylvania.
The rotational winds started to develop near Ford City and went northeast across Armstrong County.
According to weather officials, the 9-mile track of damage was consistent with a tornado. Some of the most damage was seen in wooded areas near Harris Road in Valley Township.
Winds consistently hit speeds of 75 to 80 miles per hour—but reached a peak of 120 miles per hour.
