There was no tornado that hit northern Butler County during the storms on Monday, although some people thought they saw one.
“We don’t have the dynamics for a tornado. It was a wet microburst. It produced some structure damage, with downed trees and downed crops on farms,” National Weather Service meteorologist John Darnley said Tuesday.
Darnley estimates the wet microburst moved through the Slippery Rock area and continued northeast out of the county. He says a farm owner on West Park Road in Slippery Rock called the NWS to report damage on his farm that appeared to be from a tornado, but it was not.
