The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Minnesota Twins 4-1 Monday. Starting pitcher Ivan Nova allowed one earned run on three hits over his four innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out six. Reliever Tyler Webb threw three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. Webb is a Rule 5 left-handed reliever who was selected from the New York Yankees in December. He will have to remain at the Major League level with the Pirates all season, or be offered back to the Yankees.
Adam Frazier had two more hits, including his third home run of the pre-season. Andrew McCutchen hit his first home run of the spring for the Bucs, who host Boston tonight.
