The numbers are still coming in for the North Washington Rodeo but the fire department says it was a huge success.
Dave Hazlet, with the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department, says this was the most successful rodeo they held in twenty years. He says there were around 1,500-1,800 more spectators at the event than the year prior.
This event is a major fundraiser for the North Washington VFD. Even though money is still coming in, Hazlet tells our newsroom they raised well over $50,000 this year. He attributes some of the success to good weather and a different direction in promotion.
Hazlet says the money will be put to good use and it will go towards buying new, and maintaining existing, equipment.
Next year’s rodeo is scheduled for August 16-20, 2016.
