Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Butler Township commissioners do not anticipate a tax increase in order to realize their 2019 budget.
Butler Township administrators and department heads presented their needs to the commissioners during a meeting on Thursday night as part of the annual budget meeting.
The current tax rate for Butler Township is 11.25 mils and 2019 is anticipated to be the eighth consecutive year without an increase, even though the size of the budget is expected to increase by nearly $200,000 to just over $8 million total.
Budgetary expenses such as two new police vehicles, as well as a dump truck and pickup for the road crew, are expected to be balanced out by increased returns from investments.
The commissioners will pass a preliminary 2019 budget with a vote later this month, Nov. 19, before finalizing the plan for next year in December.
