Christopher Bell mastered the final restart of the night Wednesday at Eldora Speedway, fending off a brief challenge from Austin Dillon and beating pole sitter Bobby Pierce to the checkered flag to notch his first career win. This marks the second year in a row the Number-54 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota was parked in Victory Lane at the half-mile Ohio dirt oval owned by Tony Stewart. Last year, Darrell Wallace, Junior was behind the wheel. This time, it was Bell engineering the victory in just his third career start. Wednesday’s race was slowed by thirteen cautions, most in the three-year history of the event, for sixty-one of the 154 laps.
NASCAR haulers will arrive at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this evening as preparations continue for the weekend’s X-FINITY/Sprint Cup Series doubleheader.
This weekend marks the second time this month that NASCAR introduces a track-specific rules package for the Sprint Cup Series. Modifications for Sunday’s Crown Royal 400 at The Brickyard will increase downforce, adding drag and creating a larger drafting slipstream off the rear of the cars that NASCAR hopes will help provide a more competitive race. A recent rules change at Kentucky speedway decreased downforce on the cars. Hear Sunday’s Brickyard 400 on WBUT 1050am and at wbut.com beginning at 2:30pm.
