A new school safety reporting program will go live Monday and a couple of local school districts will be participating.
The Safe2Say Something Anonymous reporting system will be available to be utilized by every school in the state as a result of a partnership between the PA Attorney General’s office and the group Sandy Hook Promise.
This system will allow students, teachers and administrators in districts to learn about how to detect and report potential threats of violence and other problems before they occur. The Safe2Say Something app is now available for download. Training has been provided for school administrators and 911 dispatch centers.
Sandy Hook Promise is a national non-profit organization based in Newtown, Connecticut formed after the school shooting that occurred there in Dec. 2012.
At least two public school districts in Butler County are expected to utilize the service- Butler and Mars.
