A newly elected State Senator is proposing legislation to increase the minimum wage over the next two years.
The proposed legislation looks to raise the minimum wage in Pennsylvania to $12 an hour in 2026 and to $15 an hour in 2027.
It would also eliminate the separation of tipped wages and removed the provision of preventing municipalities from increasing the minimum wage above the state minimum.
State Senators Art Hayword and newly elected Patty Kim proposed the legislation as Pennsylvania has not had a minimum wage increase since 2006.
All surrounding states of Pennsylvania have higher minimum wages.
