Butler officials are scheduled to update the public Thursday on the county’s Medication Drop Box Program.
There are currently seven drop box locations throughout the county where residents are encouraged to drop off unused and unwanted prescription drugs. The goal is to get the drugs out of peoples’ homes because research shows the misuse of prescription drugs can lead to abuse of illegal drugs.
The drop-off locations in Butler County are at police stations in Butler, Butler Township, Cranberry, Slippery Rock, Saxonburg and Penn Township and in the lobby of the Butler County Prison.
Officials today are expected to announce a new location in Jackson Township.
